Seller & Publisher Terms

Terms for authors, publishers and distributors who apply to supply books to GK Smart Book.

1. Current status of seller functionality

At present GK Smart Book sells from its own inventory as a retail seller. The Seller / Publisher section of the site is an application and evaluation form only — independent sellers cannot currently list, price or fulfil orders through the platform. Marketplace-specific obligations described here apply only if and when that functionality is switched on. Submitting the Seller / Partner form creates no listing, no seller account, no payout entitlement and no obligation on either side. Any supply relationship will be governed by a separate written agreement.

2. What the application is for

  • Letting us assess the titles you can supply, the formats, rights position and commercial fit.
  • Contacting you to discuss a supply, distribution or consignment arrangement.
  • Nothing more — we do not evaluate applications automatically or make credit decisions from them.

3. Information you provide

You confirm the information you submit is true and that you are authorised to submit it on behalf of the business named. Please do not submit financial identifiers such as PAN or bank details unless you are comfortable doing so at an application stage; see section 6 of the Privacy Policy for how that data is handled today.

4. Rights and authenticity warranties

  • You own, or hold a valid licence to grant, the rights to distribute each title in the formats and territories you offer.
  • Digital rights are warranted separately from print rights, where both are offered.
  • No title is a pirated scan, unauthorised compilation, counterfeit or infringing derivative.
  • Product descriptions, edition, author, ISBN and specification details are accurate and not misleading.
  • You will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from a breach of these warranties.

5. Prohibited supply

  • Pirated or unauthorised scans of any publisher's work.
  • Counterfeit or unauthorised reprints.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark or personality rights.
  • Unlawful, obscene or misleading educational claims.

6. Commercial terms

Pricing, supply price, commission or platform fees, payout schedule, invoicing, tax treatment (including GST and TDS responsibilities), inventory commitments, fulfilment responsibility, packaging, returns handling and customer-complaint ownership will be set out in the separate supply agreement. Current status: [SELLER COMMISSION, FEES AND PAYOUT SCHEDULE — TO BE PROVIDED]. Nothing on this page fixes any commercial term.

7. Compliance obligations if the marketplace goes live

  • Identity and business verification, including PAN and, where applicable, GSTIN.
  • Publication of the seller's legal name and address details as required by the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.
  • Accurate country of origin, price, expiry/edition and other mandatory disclosures.
  • Timely dispatch, honouring returns and refunds, and responding to customer grievances within the prescribed timelines.
  • Compliance with tax, invoicing and record-keeping obligations.

8. Suspension and termination

We may reject an application, or suspend or terminate a supply relationship, for rights disputes, counterfeit or pirated supply, repeated quality or fulfilment failures, misrepresentation, or breach of law or of the supply agreement.

9. Seller data

Business and personal data submitted by sellers is handled under our Privacy Policy. Before seller accounts go live we will implement encrypted storage of financial identifiers with access restricted to authorised reviewers.

10. Contact for partnerships
